A new company based in Great Falls, MT is offering mortgages advice to consumers that are concerned about taking that step towards owning their own home or trying to deal with a potential foreclosure. The company is called Neighborworks Education and will be working to give free mortgages advice. In Montana alone, foreclosure rates are up 255%, and the situation may get even worse.
“You should always make your house payments first and we always say that” says NeighborWorks Education Director Karen Nebel. “But sometimes life happens and you are unable to make your house payment. You should absolutely call your lender and let them know you can’t make house payment and they’ll work with you and try to help you back on track.”
Although most of their mortgage advice centers around trying to get a refinance plan, the company is warning consumers that they will have to pay some fees with a bank in order to get a refinance deal. They will also be extending their offerings beyond mortgages advice and offering help for those who need assistance in setting up a budget and controlling their household expenses and juggling their house payments.
