Mortgage Advice Not Being Sought Soon Enough

Experts are blaming the rate of foreclosures on many things, but one of the most common is that consumers are not seeking mortgage advice until it is far too late to do anything about their home loans. They stress that it is vital to get mortgage advice at the first hint of trouble and not to delay. In many cases, mortgage advice leads homeowners towards refinancing, but this process can take months to complete. If a consumer does not seek mortgage advice until they are already at risk for foreclosure, there is little that anyone can do.The government has set up numerous free mortgage advice centers in hopes that this will encourage more to get help before it is too late. The combination of the right timing and the right mortgage advice often means that foreclosure can be avoided. Until consumers start taking this advice to heart however, these experts feel that the housing crisis may get worse. Compounding the problem are banks that refuse to offer refinancing, which is usually the best mortgage advice anyone can get. Until this changes, there may be few options left for consumers.
